As a preparation for Jumping Mechelen at the end of this month Dirk Demeersman went to the three star competition in the Polish Poznan with our Cicero Z van Paemel. The next day Cicero jumped again a clear round, after which he got a fault in the jump-off. His best performance was on Saturday, when he started in the 'middle round' final. Nine combinations managed to qualify for the jump-off, including Dirk and Cicero. Cicero stayed far away from the fences and this in a time nobody could improve. Like that they took the winning before Jerome Guery and Pieter Devos.

The stallion was sold for an amount of €60.000, which made him the 3rd most expensive auction horse.

06.10.12  Cicero 2e, 3e en 4e in Lanaken

That our Cicero Z van Paemel is in excellent form the last couple of months, he proved once again at the grounds of Zangersheide in in Lanaken. On Friday he started together with Dirk Demeersman in the warm up of the Sires. Cicero and Dirk belonged to the 9 combinations that stayed clear. They rode a fluent round, which was immediately rewarded with a 2nd place. The next day the real Sires of The World were on the programme. The many mistakes that were made and only 7 faultless combinations, showed that the stallions were dished up with a difficult competition. Cicero and Dirk also jumped a great clear round and qualified for the jump-off. Just like in Aalst nobody thought that the time could once more be improved, but nothing was further from the truth. Cicero finished in almost half a second faster than, but unfortunately the last fence went down. So did they not finish first, but fourth.

Besides that there was also the price-giving of the Z-ranking, a list that keeps up the performances of all Z-horses all over the world. That Cicero performed the whole year very constantly, was rewarded with a great 3rd place on this ranking, who once again was won by Regina Z.

In the world championship for five year old horses was also a descendant of Cicero competing. The KWPN bred Chicago (Cicero Z x Heartbreaker) attracked attention under the Czech Kamil Papousek. The brown stallion showed a lot of power and jumped both qualifiers clear.  In the final he also managed to qualify for the jump-off, but due to a very short turn they could not keep the zero on the board.

21.09.12  Esperanto 3rd in the Masters, Cicero offspring attracks attention

Previous weekend there was a two star CSI organized in manege De Kraal in Zandhoven. Dirk Demeersman was in company of Esperanto van Paemel and Ciska van Paemel Z. He started Ciska twice in the 1m30 classes, that she both jumped clear. The Cicero daughter showed off her endless power and gained a 10th place on Friday. Esperanto van Paemel went ahead in the Masters on Saturday evening. In which 10 combinations headed off and who has a clear round, may go through to the next round and every time one obstacle is raised, chosen by the ridert. After the 4th round the fences were on a height of 1m60 and the triple bar even on 1m70. Esperanto showed that he had no problem with the height and got effortless in the jump-off, ridden with 3 combinations. They ended nicely 3rd.

Beside that there were also competitions for young horses. Several six year old descendants of Cicero participated and left an impression. On the first day Gissero (Cicero Z x Garanco) jumped the course as well as the jump-off clear under the saddle of Jessica Geurts. The BWP approved Galisco van Paemel (Cicero Z x Feinschnitt I vd Richter) jumped also without any faults, but got a time penalty in the jump-off with Nick Vrins. The powerfull Gautcho da Quinta (Cicero Z x Upsilon vd Heffinck) and Catherine Van Roosbroeck were also placed for the jump-off, in which they got a fence down and a time penalty. On the second day Gitania VG (Cicero Z x Chellano Z) was clear under Ben Beevers, just like Galisco van Paemel. Gautcho da Quinta as well as Gissero stayed far from the fences, but got a time penalty. In the final on Saturdat Gautcho managed to impress again by not making any mistake, but he got a time penalty (video).

02.09.12  Cicero in excellent form

Cicero Z van Paemel proved to be in good shape past weekend, by not touching one fence and returning home with 3 placings. Together with Dirk Demeersman he was present at the five star CSI Donetsk in Ukraine. He obviously enjoyed his flight with the plane because already on the first day they started in the 1m50 class against the clock, which he ended clear in a time good for the 9th place. The next day Dirk went ahead with him in the 1m45 class als 'warming-up' for the next competition. He guided Cicero calmly faultless and started him afterwards in the 1m50 class. We once again saw a super jumping Cicero who qualified him effortless for the jump-off, in which Dirk had a second iron in the fire with Bufero. Despite that he was the first to enter the jump-off with Cicero, he set a good time that three riders managed to improve, including Dirk himself as the winner. With Cicero he obtained a nice 4th place then. On Sunday our grey stallion kept his top form by jumping clear again. In the 1m45 accumulator against the clock he stayed far from the fences and managed to gain a 5th place. Spoken about a very successful weekend!

12.06.12  First Grand Prix victory!

A fantastic weekend, that is the summary of Jumping Aalst. Dirk Demeersman went with our two stallions Cicero Z van Paemel and Esperanto van Paemel to Jumping Aalst. Cicero, who is in excellent shape the last couple of weeks with several top 5 places, continued to draw the line. On Saturday they started in the 1m45 small Grand Prix in which 15 combinations for sure were allowed to return in the second round. The pair stayed nicely clear in the fourth fastest time, by what they could enter at the end of the second round. In view to Sunday Dirk decided to ride a fluent jump-off without to many risks. This was translated in a clear round and a 4th place. Sunday morning Dirk started off well with a clear round with Esperanto in the 1m40 class, what yielded them a 9th place.

Sunday afternoon the Grand Prix was on the program, which also consisted of two rounds. Dirk and Cicero were the 11th combination to enter the ring. A superb jumping Cicero, who was on top form, jumped a clear round like the day before. Eventually there were 15 combinations that jumped faultlessly  and Dirk and Cicero were allowed to enter last but one, thanks to their very fast time in the first round. Vigo d'Arsouilles and Philippe Le Jeune recorded a competitive time of which nobody thought anyone could go any faster. Dirk decided to go all the way and to take risks. With a couple of very short turns and thanks to Cicero's unlimited power they managed to finish clear ánd in a faster time. The last rider was also not fast enough and so Cicero and Dirk gained their first Grand Prix victory. Really fantastic to see the apple of our's eye in front with a moved Dirk on his back. Thank you for this amazing victory!

08.06.12  Cicero 5th in Sankt Gallen

Previous week our stallion Cicero Z van Paemel travelled to the Swiss five stars CSIO in Sankt Gallen. Cicero came twice at the start in the 1m50 classes under the saddle of Dirk Demeersman. From the first day Cicero proved that he was in good shape by jumping a great clear round with a lot of scope. Dirk and Cicero also stayed clear in the jump-off in a time that was good for the fifth place, from the twenty-one jump-off combinations. The next day the duo was on the way to a clear round, but a super jumping Cicero got a fault on the go, which brought them to a 15 place thanks to a fast time.

01.06.12  Placings in Nieuwpoort

In Nieuwpoort the North Sea Jumping took place last week under a shining sun. Dirk Demeersman was accompanied by the two half-brothers, Cicero Z and Esperanto van Paemel. The first day Esperanto started in the 1m30 class which he ended clear, with in th enclosed jump-off a fault. Cicero was saddled up for the 1m45 class against the clock. Dirk and Cicero took from the beginning a strong pace and stayed clear in a quick time, which was good for a great 4th place on 62 participants. Cicero who obviously was in shape, got the next two days each a bad luck fault in the triple, which was built fairly short for his wide galop. The powerful Esperanto managed in the 1m35 class, once again against the clock, the next day to gain a 10th place under Dirk.
